The Celebrity Opera Gala. Something To Celebrate - A World Class Affair

The Celebrity Opera Gala. Something To Celebrate - A World Class Affair
THERE will be a tangible air of celebration in Dublin, this month, when Chilean born tenor Tito Beltran will share the National Concert Hall stage with Ireland's own soprano supreme Cara O'Sullivan, accompanied by the RTÉ Orchestra, conducted by Laurent Wagner.

This Celebrity Opera Gala on March 25 will be a world class affair. Tito Beltran is on track to conquer the operatic world and Cara O'Sullivan has that indefinable star quality which enraptures audiences. Their previous appearances together ensured a return to the NCH stage. This Barra Ó Tuama Promotions presentation is a one-only concert as both singers are in such constant demand.

Added value on the evening will be the RTE Orchestra who were quite magnificent in the acclaimed Bord Gáis New Year Gala at the same venue earlier this year. For this special concert they are under the baton of the respected international conductor Laurent Wagner.

The programme for March 25 will include operatic favourites by Puccini, Donizetti, Verdi, Gounod and Rossini. It will feature classic duets Addio speranza from Rigoletto and the haunting Un Di felice from La Traviata.

This should ensure an evening to remember for those lucky enough to secure tickets which range in price from 20 to 45 euros with usual concessions (from NCH Tel 01 4170000).

Beltran, resident in Sweden, is now recognised as one of the finest lyric tenors in the world and his reputation has been further boosted by not only his live appearances but also through the acclaimed Silva Screen Classic CD's series.

From that first appearance at the Cardiff Singer Of The World competition in 1993, Beltran has been a world name and his career has been on a upward curve ever since. He made his Covent Garden debut (Rodolfo in La Boheme) in 1995 and at La Scala (Rosenkavalier) in 2002. It was again as Rodolfo for his US debut in Michigan. He joined superstar couple Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu for the Iambic Productions tv film of Romeo and Juliette.

It has been his live appearances which has excited the operatic world. His dynamism, vocal skills and warm personality have endeared him to opera lovers and his Dublin performance could be his last visit here for some time, so great is the demand for this man with the golden tenor voice.

Ireland is rightly proud of its representative for this celebratory evening on the 25th as Cara O'Sullivan is world class in her own right.

She possesses a voice to die for and has never disappointed her legion of Irish fans. The Cork based soprano took America by storm when she performed one of her greatest roles from The Queen Of Night from The Magic Flute.

That performance drew this accolade from the American critics: '…dominated her scenes with a voice of steel and sparkle, and practically pulls you from your seat!!!'

From Barcelona to Royal Albert Hall, London; the Concertgebow in Amsterdam to the concerts halls of Australia and New Zealand, Cara O'Sullivan has thrilled her audiences and she is especially looking forward to her return to the NCH on the 25th following her tour of Australia.

Celebrity Opera Gala- Tito Beltran, Cara O'Sullivan, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra (Laurent Wagner) at the National Concert Hall, on March 25-not to be missed.

This concert is supported by the Sunday Independent.
