INTERNATIONAL CELEBRITY OPERA GALA With The World Renowned Leading Verdi Baritone PAOLO GAVANELLI
The magnificent Italian baritone, Paolo Gavanelli returns to the National Concert Hall, Dublin and to the City Hall, Cork fresh from his astounding success as Rigoletto at the Royal Opera Covent Garden earlier this year. In this King of baritone roles he gave a “spell-bonding performance” and “a formidable portrayal…genuinely touching”. In fact The Sunday Times said that this was “The greatest Rigoletto London has seen in 30 years”

Paolo Gavanelli has been at the top of his career for some years now, In constant demand all over the world he performs the popular baritone roles in the great  opera houses such as Munich, Berlin, London. Tokyo and New York where he returns to the Metropolitan Opera House later this year to appear as Rigoletto.

Gavanelli will be joined by the young, highly acclaimed Italian tenor, Nicola Rossi Giordano who has been making a huge name for himself on world stages and who made such a big impression on Irish audiences when he appeared  here a year ago. Having made his debut already at the Royal Opera Covent Garden he will return there next year, due to huge public demand. He will also make his debut at the Metropolitan Opera, New York in 2007. Just before Nicola comes to Ireland he will also make his debut in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino in Berlin.

Paolo and Nicola will perform with the Pro Arte Orchestra, conducted by Colman Pearce in a programme of arias, duets and orchestral pieces from the popular operas by such composers as Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Bellini, Bizet and many more.
